The River City Regiment ensembles is led by band director Mr. Rudy Cisneros. Cisneros is a first generation music educator from South Central Los Angeles, California. Cisneros first began his musical journey at the age of 12 and has been involved in the field ever since. In high school, Cisneros became interested in pursuing a career in music as all his music educators played an important part in his development as a musician and person. Upon graduating high school, Cisneros left South Central Los Angeles and Southern California to travel to Northern California. In 2016, Cisneros received a Bachelor of Art in Music(Performance) with a minor in Education from the University of California, Davis. Upon completing his Bachelors degree, Cisneros relocated to Stockton, CA to attend graduate school at the University of the Pacific: Conservatory of Music. under the tutelage of Dr.Eric Hammer. In 2018, Cisneros received a Masters in Music Education with a single subject credential in music from the University of the Pacific. While involved in his studies, Cisneros spent time assisting and honing his craft as a music educator at Antelope High School with directors Ritchey Hodge and Mark Calvo. Cisneros student taught at Johansen High School in Modesto with director Brad Hart. From 2017-18, Cisneros served as a brass instructor for the Blue Devils B Drum & Bugle Corps. Cisneros looks forward to building upon the already established culture at River City High School and is excited to be the band director for this program.
The PerformerFor the past 13 years, Cisneros has had the pleasure of performing in various ensembles in order to help him grow as an individual and performer. In high school, Cisneros participated with the Los Angeles Unified School District All City Honor Band where he was able to march in four straight(09-12) Tournament of Roses Parades in Pasadena on New Years Day. In college, Cisneros participated with the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps from 2014 to 2015 where he performed as mellophone(14) and trumpet player(15) winning back to back World Championships. Currently, Cisneros performs with the Sacramento Symphonic Winds and enjoys every opportunity he gets to make music.
